Early Friday morning the 8th of April 2022 and the chilly weather was no match for the enthusiasm the golfers brought along with them. It is said that golf is a game of passion and dedication. No words have been truer. They had begun to arrive in earnest and by 0700hrs, tee-off was well on its way.
Our Inaugural charity golf tournament was going down at the Vetlab golf course. Our call to action had borne fruit and the support was nothing short of amazing! Raising over 1 million Kenya shillings was a huge milestone for the Rotary Club of Gachie.
Corporate sponsors and Kenyan golfers alike had all shown up for us, supporting the cause we seek to meet, rehabilitating and improving WaSH facilities at Waguthu Primary School as well as constructing and furnishing a computer library at Kiambaa Primary school. Needs assessments have also began in several other schools within Kiambaa community who stand to benefit from the generosity of our partners.
A very popular phrase truly embodies the Rotary Spirit – “We give not because we have. But we have because we give.” We are a people of action and service is what we’re all about. The structured, transparent and consistent way in which we reach out to make our communities better places to live in inspires the support we continuously receive.
